NRL Trial Results are in

NRL Results are now in from this weekends round of pre-season trial games of Rugby League. With games scattered all over the eastern states, there were some interesting results from some impressive and physical footy that was played. The big news was Willie Mason playing his first game for the tri-colours and getting up close and personal with Todd Payten, throwing in a huge shoulder charge and sending Payten to hospital.

NRL Trial Results

With NRL Results in from the recent round of trial matches, it seems the Newcastle Knights might have a little more to give in 2008. Suffering a horror Rugby League season last year, the Knights were able to overcome a gritty NZ Warriors team and sneak away winners with a late try in the impressive quality match, considering it was a trial game.

Brian Smith and his team will be hoping for more positive signs as they move towards the NRL kick-off in a year where they need to all work together or risk being blown apart.

Hutch Maiava joins Penrith

Former Bulldogs and Sharks big man Hutch Maiava has been signed by Penrith after relocating from Hull in the UK Super League. Maiava adds some much needed starch to the Penrith pack and will assist new buy Petero Civoniceva in his 2008 quest for NRL glor.

NRL Results from last nights trials

NRL results are in from the trial games last night, with the Storm crushing Manly yet again in a heavy defeat for the Eagles and the gritty Newcastle Knights coming home stronger to overrun an initially classy NZ Warriors outfit.

The Storm won their Gosford match with the Eagles in emphatic style, final score 56-10 with coach Bellamy happy with the depth from the Melbourne club.

In Auckland, the Warriors let most of the way on the back of tradesman like structure however their simply ran out of petrol, with fitness a concern and the Knights did enough to hang in there and overrun the home team in the end. A good boost for the strugglers from 2007.

Manly and Melbourne Set to Battle

The Grand Final rematch is only a few days away with Manly up against the Melbourne Storm in Gosford in an early NRL 2008 trial game. The Storm will need the run much more than the Eagles, as the Melbourne team will shortly fly out to face Leeds in the World Club Challenge Rugby League showdown.

NRL Results and Predictions are coming from all corners as punters make and stake their claims for their teams in 2008. As always few teams can be counted out, however talk about the wooden spoon always stirs footy fans and no doubt bets will be laid on all comers.

Storm name lineup for trial game against Manly

Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy is tweaking his side in the quest for even better NRL results in 2008. In an ominous warning for other teams, the Storm is putting plenty of talent on display during their Gosford Trial game against the Manly Sea Eagles. In a game of 4 Quarters, the Storm are using two totally different sides in periods 1 and 2 and coach Bellamy has left the remaining Quarters to be decided on the night.

Rooster trouble in Wollongong

The southern sleepy hollow of Wollongong isn't so sleepy anymore, with a second NRL incident taking place on the weekend - the second in the space of a week, as Rooster Shaun Kenny-Dowell became involved in a heated brawl after locals swiped some cash from his wallent.

It's amazing considering NRL Results aren't even on the board, but there are consistent Rugby League headlines each week as players continue to get themselves in harms way and keen media are there to tell the world.

Reports suggest Kenny Dowell left his wallet at a fast food outlet and returned soon after to get it. He eventually got the wallet, but had all the cash taken. He approached a group of bystanders about the theft and a brawl soon followed.

Souths take NRL future to ANZ Stadium

Souths today signed their future over to ANZ Stadium Homebush for the next 10 years as they look for homeground stability and financially sound backing into the future.

The Rabbitohs have been blocked at every turn from reviving former Rugby League ground Redfern Oval to it's former glory, so have been forced to look afar for more security for their fans.

Claiming improved conditions; including exclusive locker rooms, better bars and more exclusive fan seating - the Rabbitohs signed with ANZ for the next decade.

NRL News talks Wayne Bennett and Ben Roberts

Today at NRL News (www.nrlnews.com) Wayne Bennetts announcement he is quitting the Broncos at the end of the year is discussed. Certainly a big change for Rugby League in Queensland as the father figure moves on.

The Bennett quitting announcement has helped the Bulldogs dodge some of the fire from the Nightclub incident as the club limps from one problem to another.
